The abdomen is the region of the body located between the chest and the pelvis.  This anatomical region is often referred to as the abdominal cavity, which serves as the home of the stomach, liver, kidneys, and many more internal organs.  In addition to protecting some of the most vital organs in the human body, the abdominal muscles also help provide the core support and stability that is needed to help prevent injuries from occurring.  It is important to have an adequate understanding of the abdomen and its different components in order to better understand any complications or injuries that may occur in this area.
