The lower leg is the region of the body located between the knee and ankle joint.  This region of the body is comprised of two long bones, the tibia and fibula, as well as numerous muscles, tendons, and ligaments, including the calf muscles.  These components of the lower leg work in conjunction with the upper leg to help facilitate activities such as running and jumping.  It is important to have a thorough understanding of the different components that help make up the lower leg to better understand any complications that may arise in this area.
