Collar Bone Anatomy

Anatomy of the Collarbone
The medical term used for the collarbone is the clavicle. These gently curved, slender bones connect to the sternum, forming the sternoclavicular joint; and to the scapula, forming the AC joint.  The two clavicles, or collar bones, are positioned horizontally above the rib cage and help serve as a brace for the arm, keeping it to the side of the body.
