The skin is the largest organ in the human body and contains many complicated cells and structures.  The primary responsibility of the skin is to help provide a protective barrier for the muscles, tendons, ligaments, organs, and much more for the body.  In addition to providing a protective barrier, the skin also helps to regulate the appropriate body temperature for normal functioning. There are 3 layers of the skin, the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis.  It is important to gain an understanding of the skin and its benefits to the human body, as well as how to effectively treat complications or injuries that may affect this organ.
