ARE YOU MORE LIKELY TO GET HURT BEING OVERWEIGHT?

Does being overweight put you at an increased risk for injury?  Their are many critics out there on this and my answer is very simple. YES!!! Carrying those extra pounds can be very difficult on the weight bearing joints of the body such as the hip or knee.  There are multiple studies out there that show the direct correlation but lets get some real life thoughts on this... You be the judge and let us know if being overweight or obese leads to an increase likelihood of injury?

HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH TRAINING?

Is it possible to work out too much? The answer is yes!!!  Too much training can lead to a wide range of overuse injuries, ranging from a hamstring strain to a torn meniscus in the knee.  So many athletes are pushed to the limit each and every day but it is crucial to have a well balanced training program that includes adequate training and diet.  It is this balance that allows athletes to reach their maximum potential and avoid injuries.

YOGA IS A KEY COMPONENT OF EVERY WORKOUT REGIMEN...

As an ex-athlete I can recall hearing coaches constantly preaching about the impact that stretching would have on my performance on the football field.  Unfortunately I did not listen and many injuries were incurred as the result of this.  There are studies coming out every day about the added benefits that stretching has on athletes.  Yoga has been around for years but it hasn’t been until recent years that elite athletes of all sports have begun to include this into their workout routine.  Let us know the impact that yoga has had for you?
